Mandya: Former minister CS Puttaraju asked district minister N Cheluvarayaswamy to convene an all-party meeting to resolve the land-allocation issue for the proposed Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) centre. Recalling that CM DK Shivakumar had earlier agreed to provide the land sought by Union minister HD Kumaraswamy, Puttaraju suggested Elechakanahalli-Toobinakere as a suitable location, pointing out that the alternative site at Muddanaghatta-Heggadatihalli was under cultivation for over six decades. He criticised Congress functionaries, including home minister Priyank Kharge, for making derogatory remarks against Kumaraswamy and cautioned that such statements could invite public resentment. Former minister DC Thammanna urged industries minister MB Patil to establish an industrial cluster in Mandya by acquiring around 2,000 acres near Toobinakere.
