Union minister HD Kumaraswamy accused DK Shivakumar of using a sting operation to oust Siddaramaiah from the chief minister post

Bengaluru: The cabinet Thursday decided against ordering a separate high-level investigation into the alleged sting operation targeting former CM Siddaramaiah, and authorised CM DK Shivakumar to decide the next step. The issue was discussed for over an hour.Briefing reporters, home minister Priyank Kharge said the ongoing investigation will continue, and the govt would act on the evidence gathered so far. The case could be handed to a “suitable agency if required”, he said.“The investigation will be free and transparent. There is no question of protecting anyone,” Priyank said. He said the govt had collected relevant material and documents. He said Siddaramaiah had said the video was fake and had sought a probe into the circumstances behind it. “Nothing is more important than the dignity and reputation of our former CM Siddaramaiah. Let that be on record,” Priyank said, adding that political affiliations of those involved, or of their backers, would not sway the govt.Meanwhile, In a boost to the film industry, the cabinet approved a proposal to develop an international-standard film city near Mysuru on the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The city is envisaged as a major film and entertainment hub, with state-of-the-art studios, technical infrastructure, post-production facilities and other facilities required by the film industry. The project will span 160 acres and eight guntas of land at Immavu Industrial Area in Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru district, at an estimated cost of Rs 729 crore. The city will be developed in phases and feature indoor and outdoor shooting facilities. These will include sets replicating a railway station, airport, railway tracks, runway, golf course, ponds, lakes and a palace, along with other essential infrastructure. It will also be equipped with advanced post-production technology. The project envisages accommodation for film crews, technicians and other personnel involved in shooting. It will also include an amusement park, theme parks, commercial establishments and retail outlets, all developed to international standards.Officials said the location offers significant advantages for filmmaking, with several popular destinations — Srirangapatna, Melukote, KRS Dam, Mysuru Zoo and Chamundi Hills — nearby. The banks of Cauvery and other rivers in the region also offer diverse shooting locations.
