Video prompts inquiry into ‘bribery’ for SIR form corrections
The clerk claimed the money was taken to facilitate the affidavit-related formalities and obtain the required attestation from an advocate

Hazaribag: A video purportedly showing a clerk at the Barhi sub-divisional office accepting money in connection with the correction of voter details under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has gone viral on social media, prompting an official inquiry on Monday. The video allegedly shows a person from Chouparan block submitting an application for correction of his voter ID details and handing over cash to head clerk Tulsi Srivastava. The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified.Denying the bribery allegation, Srivastava said the applicant’s affidavit did not bear an advocate’s attested signature. He claimed the money was taken to facilitate the affidavit-related formalities and obtain the required attestation, and was not a bribe.Barhi SDO Johan Tudu said he had taken cognisance of the matter and ordered an inquiry. “The issue of money being accepted has come to light and is being examined. Strict action will be taken as per rules if anyone is found guilty,” he said.
