Patiala: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) has issued a show-cause notice to former Punjab Youth Congress president Barinder Singh Dhillon over allegations that he misbehaved with and used abusive language against party functionary Ranjit Singh Tarkhanmajra at the Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh.PPCC disciplinary committee chairperson and former minister Avatar Henry issued the notice following a formal complaint about Dhillon’s conduct. The committee described the alleged remarks as objectionable, insulting and in violation of party discipline.Dhillon has three days to explain his actions. The notice stated that disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against him if he failed to submit a satisfactory reply within that period.

The action follows an alleged altercation at Punjab Congress Bhawan on Oct 27. Tarkhanmajra, a ticket aspirant from Fatehgarh Sahib and former Sirhind Market Committee chairperson, claimed that Dhillon abused him. He was reportedly visiting the party office with his son to meet the state leadership when the altercation occurred.Tarkhanmajra subsequently lodged a complaint with the Congress high command, seeking Dhillon’s immediate expulsion to protect the dignity of senior party workers.The dispute once again highlighted factionalism in the Punjab Congress, particularly in the Fatehgarh Sahib and Ropar electoral belts, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
