Pilibhit to get 200-acre bio-pharma park

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) is developing a 951.79-acre industrial area at Bhara Pachpera in Pilibhit’s Amaria tehsil, with 200 acres earmarked for a dedicated bio-pharma park to attract investments in the manufacturing of advanced biological medicines, an official spokesperson said on Wednesday. The proposed park will encourage units manufacturing vaccines, insulin, gene therapies and monoclonal antibodies, creating an ecosystem for pharmaceutical and biotechnology-based manufacturing, research and innovation in the Terai region.“The project is part of the govt’s efforts to expand industrial development beyond major cities and generate investment and employment opportunities in smaller districts,” director and special expert at UP Promote Pharma Council, GN Singh, said.“Of the total 951.79 acres, 575.79 acres have been earmarked for industrial plots, 60.98 acres for common facilities, 109.23 acres for green areas and 96.20 acres for roads. Fourteen plots are currently available for allotment, while the bio-pharma park will be spread across 200 acres,” he said. The project is also envisaged as more than just an industrial estate, with plans for a biotechnology institute, skill development facilities and an incubation centre to train local youth and support startups in the sector.Pilibhit’s geographical location and connectivity are expected to be among the project’s key advantages. Bhara Pachpera is around 36 km from Pilibhit city, 100 km from Bareilly and approximately 300 km from Lucknow and Delhi. Its proximity to the Nepal border and railway connectivity are expected to facilitate the movement of raw materials and finished products while providing access to regional markets.
