New Delhi: Delhi High Court Friday granted seven-day custody parole to Al Falah University group chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui to visit his ailing wife. Siddiqui is in custody in two money laundering cases.Justice Mini Pushkarna passed the order on his plea seeking interim bail or a week’s custody parole on medical and humanitarian grounds. Siddiqui told the court that his wife had been suffering from Stage-4 ovarian cancer and was due for her next cycle of chemotherapy on Nov 10.Custody parole involves a prisoner being escorted by armed police to the place of visit. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) counsel “strenuously” opposed the interim release, citing the seriousness of the allegations against him and contending that he was a flight risk and had criminal antecedents, including his alleged involvement in the Nov 2025 Red Fort car blast case.ED submitted that any custody parole should be subject to stringent conditions, including restricting Siddiqui to his residence except for medical visits, prohibiting contact with witnesses and barring him from visiting Al Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad. In July, the high court had declined to grant him interim bail but allowed him to meet his wife on custody parole on three dates.Siddiqui faces two money laundering cases. The first relates to the alleged generation of illicit funds through fees collected from university students. He was arrested in this case on Nov 18, 2025, under Prevention of Money Laundering Act.ED’s investigation is based on two FIRs registered by Delhi Police’s crime branch, alleging that the university misled students and parents by falsely claiming NAAC accreditation and UGC recognition. The agency has alleged that the university generated Rs 415.10 crore between 2018 and 2025 and diverted student fees for personal use.Siddiqui was later arrested in another money laundering case concerning the “fraudulent” acquisition of land worth Rs 45 crore in Delhi. The university also figured in a ‘white-collar terror’ investigation, in which two doctors linked to it were arrested. Another doctor, Umar-un-Nabi, was identified as the suicide bomber behind the Nov 10, 2025, blast outside the Red Fort that killed 15 people.
