Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will celebrate Diwali with the Vantangiya community at Jungle Tikonia No. 3 village on Nov 8, while inaugurating and laying the foundation stones of development projects worth Rs 78 crore for various gram panchayats in the district. This will be the 10th consecutive Diwali that CM Yogi will celebrate with the Vantangiya community as the CM. He had started the tradition in 2009 when he was a Lok Sabha MP from Gorakhpur, reaching out to a community that had remained neglected for nearly a century. The village, located in Kusmhi forest, is gearing up for the chief minister’s visit. Over the years, Yogi’s association with the Vantangiyas has grown into a strong bond, with the community eagerly awaiting his arrival every Diwali. The tradition has become so deeply rooted that elderly villagers, too, insist on lighting diyas only when ‘Yogi Baba’ arrives. His efforts have also brought development and access to rights to 23 Vantangiya villages in Gorakhpur and Maharajganj districts, besides other forest-dwelling settlements across the state. Preparations for the chief minister’s visit are almost complete, while villagers are ready to welcome him with enthusiasm.During his visit, Yogi will lay the foundation stones of development projects worth Rs 74.12 crore and inaugurate projects worth Rs 3.88 crore. Most of the projects are aimed at strengthening basic infrastructure and facilities in various villages.
