Jaipur: With Diwali approaching, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) organised Safayi Seva Marathon 2.0 Thursday, carrying out a city-wide cleanliness drive from 7 am to 8 pm. The exercise covered all parts of the city as the civic body stepped up sanitation efforts ahead of the festive rush.More than 8,000 tonnes of waste were collected during the 13-hour drive. With markets and residential areas expected to witness increased activity during Diwali, the drive was aimed at improving cleanliness across the city ahead of the festival. Maintaining sanitation levels beyond the one-day exercise, particularly during the festive period when waste generation is likely to increase, will remain a challenge for the civic body.Regular garbage collection and timely transportation to processing sites will be crucial to sustaining the effort.
