Kalaburagi: Jewargi police have registered a case against a youth identified as Ismail for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl after repeatedly pressuring her to accept his marriage proposal.The case was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act based on a complaint filed by the girl’s parents. Police have launched an investigation and initiated further legal action against the accused.According to the complaint, the girl became acquainted with Ismail, who belongs to another community, during the last Ugadi festival. He allegedly professed his love and repeatedly asked her to accept his proposal, promising to marry her.The girl reportedly rejected the proposal, saying she was not of marriageable age. However, Ismail allegedly continued to harass and pressure her whenever she visited her relatives’ village.After her family learnt about the matter, a confrontation and discussion were held with Ismail in the presence of elders, the complaint said.On the night of Oct 29, when nobody was at the girl’s house, Ismail allegedly kidnapped her and sexually assaulted her against her will.
