Stock Market Live Updates Today: Sensex jumps 1000 points, Nifty above 23,300

Indian equity benchmarks opened sharply higher on Monday, with the BSE Sensex climbing over 700 points and the NSE Nifty rising over 150 points, or 0.73 per cent, to trade above 23,200. Falling crude oil prices amid hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough in the Iran conflict and Reliance Industries’ better-than-expected earnings lifted sentiment. Foreign investors also extended their recent buying streak. Separately, Axis AMC expects Indian equities to recover in the coming months, citing steady economic growth and improving corporate earnings.

Across Asia, markets were mixed as technology stocks remained under pressure following last week’s Wall Street selloff, fuelled by concerns over heavy AI-related spending. Japan’s Nikkei fell as Kioxia shares tumbled, while South Korean stocks recovered on robust export data. Chinese equities gained on reports of possible regulatory support for capital markets, even as concerns over state-backed conglomerate Huafa weighed on bond funds. Oil prices declined amid reports of efforts to revive US-Iran negotiations, though fresh threats from Donald Trump kept geopolitical uncertainty alive.
