Ludhiana: A 15-year-old Class 10 student has died by suicide in Ludhiana allegedly because she was being pressured into a same-sex marriage by a woman. The accused, a 25-year-old, was arrested on Monday evening.According to the teenager’s father, who works at a factory, the two became friends on Instagram around six months ago. He alleged that the older woman relentlessly pressured her for a relationship and marriage, leaving her severely distressed. On Saturday evening, she died by suicide.Police did not find a suicide note but registered a case against the woman on Sunday under BNS Section 108 for abetment to suicide on the basis of a complaint from the schoolgirl’s father.The accused owns a shop in Ludhiana, said police. An officer said they are also examining if she had befriended and pressured other girls in a similar manner.
