Ranchi: Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice against gangster Rahul Dubey, who is accused of operating an organised crime network from abroad through local associates in Jharkhand, police said.Additional DGP Manoj Kaushik said the process to issue a similar notice against another gangster, Rahul Singh, was under way. Both men are suspected to be hiding overseas. The notice alerts Interpol member countries to Dubey’s identity and criminal record. If he is located or detained abroad, Jharkhand police can seek his provisional arrest and initiate extradition proceedings through the appropriate channels. A Red Corner Notice, however, is not an international arrest warrant. The proposal for the notice was routed through the home department to CBI, which forwarded it to Interpol.Police said Dubey was a close associate of gangster Aman Sahu, who was killed in a police encounter in Palamu district in March 2025. After Sahu’s death, Dubey allegedly took over parts of his network. Singh, who was briefly associated with the Sahu gang, later formed a separate outfit.According to police, Dubey’s associates were paid between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 a month and received additional payments for carrying out attacks.Police suspect Dubey is hiding in Southeast Asia. His gang has been linked to recent firing at a coal trader’s house in Kanke and at a Hazaribag hotel. Five suspected gang members were arrested after the hotel attack.
