Nagpur: Getting into record books has become a habit for Harsh Dubey. Two years after becoming the highest wicket-taker in a Ranji Trophy season, the left-arm spinner on Monday became the first Vidarbha bowler to snap nine wickets in an innings. With his nine for 53 in 23.1 overs, Dubey single-handedly bundled out Madhya Pradesh for 209. Though the visitors managed to stage a late comeback, it was Dubey who reigned supreme at Jamtha Stadium on Monday.A firm believer in destiny, Dubey didn’t ‘overthink’ about the record just like he doesn’t fret too much about getting back into Team India. “If you’re meant to achieve something in life, you will do it sooner or later,” the 24-year-old told reporters after the end of play on Monday. With flight, guile and turn, Dubey was perfection personified on Monday as he foxed one MP batter after another. With his accuracy, Dubey became almost unplayable. “There was a little bit of help off the wicket. If you were able to hit the right areas continuously, it was difficult to score. There was a little bit of moisture in the morning, so it was skidding and breaking,” he said.Apart from hitting the right spot throughout the day, Dubey also executed his plan perfectly against MP batting mainstay Rajat Patidar. The MP skipper managed just two runs off 13 balls before being sent back by Dubey. “I knew he wanted pace on the ball. So, I bowled more slowly, forcing him to create the shot. I was just trying to vary the pace and hit the right areas,” he explained.
