Times News NetworkKanpur: A man accused of raping and killing a three-year-old girl in Muskara was arrested and shot in both legs after he allegedly fired at police during spot verification, officials said. The girl’s body was found on Sunday. Following her father’s complaint, police lodged an FIR against the named accused and formed three teams for investigation.Police took the accused to the crime scene for evidence collection after his arrest and questioning. There, he allegedly pulled out a hidden illegal weapon and opened fire at the police team. ASP Arvind Kumar Verma said police retaliated in self-defence and shot him in both legs. No police personnel were injured.The accused received primary treatment at CHC Muskara before being referred to the district hospital for further treatment. Police said further legal action was under way.
