Bengaluru: Amid layoffs and a hiring freeze, here comes a silver lining: Five seventh-semester students from a Bengaluru engineering college have landed crore-plus job offers. The students from RV College of Engineering have received offers of over Rs 1 crore a year from LinkedIn. Two of them have secured packages of Rs 1.4 crore — making it one of the biggest placement hauls by an engineering college in the state. All five, from computer science and related streams, have an academic record of 9.5+ CGPA.The offers were not the outcome of a placement process alone. They began as three-month internships in the sixth semester. Later, they became full-time placement offers based on their performance. The journey began with an on-campus internship recruitment drive conducted by LinkedIn, which involved three rounds of selection. “The first round was an online assessment, with data structures and algorithms (DSA) questions to solve. The technical round, with more DSA questions and project discussions. The final was the hiring manager round where we discussed resume, projects, interests,” explained Dhaksha Muthukumaran, from Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML).During the internship, students were part of an infrastructure team. “It was really interesting. I love systems engineering and this was the best I could ask for. I look forward to getting more involved in systems — especially infrastructure and low-level systems they use in LinkedIn during my stint there,” said Ishan Shekhar Prasad, a student of Information Science and Engineering. The final offer was a performance-based conversion. Students will work out of Bengaluru.“The students demonstrated focused individual preparation, strengthening their fundamentals in data structures and algorithms and developing advanced problem-solving skills through consistent competitive coding practice on platforms such as LeetCode. Their perseverance, technical depth and systematic preparation played an important role in successfully navigating LinkedIn’s rigorous selection process,” said Prof KN Subramanya, principal, RVCE.5 CRORE SMILESSpoorthy S — Computer Science and Engineering; Muthukumaran — Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; Vishal K Bhat — Computer Science and Engineering; Ishan Prasad — Information Science and Engineering; and Nuthan B — Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security)
