Lucknow: A joint delegation of UNICEF and United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) met Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna on Thursday to strengthen coordination for the security of nearly 200 UN personnel and their families posted across the state. The five-member team discussed tighter collaboration between UP Police and UN agencies, including real-time sharing of security inputs, coordinated emergency response, and police assistance for UN staff, offices and assets.The delegation said about 198 UN personnel and eligible dependants in Uttar Pradesh are covered under United Nations Security Management System.The delegation included UNICEF Uttar Pradesh chief Zakari Adam, Tara Prasad, UNDSS security adviser Elias Legesse, Vilphin Vincent and Rani Kumari. Discussions focused on building institutional communication channels to address security concerns and crisis situations, while reviewing the operational presence of UN agencies across Uttar Pradesh.Krishna outlined law-and-order measures and assured full cooperation and necessary support. Adam is UN Area Security coordinator for Uttar Pradesh; Legesse oversees security planning.
