Times News NetworkKanpur: District Magistrate Mahendra Singh Tanwar on Monday said Kanpur Nagar will procure about 59,000 metric tonnes of paddy in Kharif 2026-27.He directed officials to improve monitoring at procurement centres, standardise record-keeping and track paddy transport vehicles through GPS to ensure transparency.A total of 49 procurement centres have been established in the district for the purpose.Details regarding procurement, stock, availability of gunny bags, and transportation must be regularly recorded in the prescribed registers. Arrangements should be made to mandatorily install cameras at every procurement centre so that the procurement process can be effectively monitored, he added.While reviewing the paddy transportation system, the DM issued instructions that no vehicle used for the movement of paddy between procurement centres and rice mills should operate without a GPS. Proper records of the movement of all such vehicles must be maintained, and transparency must be ensured throughout the entire transportation process.
