Bagalkot: Two doctors from the district have lost Rs 1.7 crore to online fraudsters who assured of doubling money.The cyber, economics, and narcotics (CEN) police have said that a paediatrician was offered more profit by investing in stock market and IPO. “He was coerced into downloading a link, and was shown a profit of Rs 8.4 crore against an investment of Rs 96.6 lakh. As the doctor intended to withdraw Rs 8.49 crore, he was suggested to pay an additional Rs 10 lakh. Later the doctor became unable to withdraw any amount,” they added.Police further added, “In another case, a doctor from Jamkhandi was offered double profit by investing in Forex and Bitcoin. He was coerced into paying Rs 64 lakh to different accounts. He paid the amount in Dec, but has registered a complaint now. We have registered both cases and are investigating them.”
