Inside Saif Ali Khan's Rs 800 crore Pataudi Palace: 150 rooms, grand verandas, Venetian chandeliers and more

Saif Ali Khan‘s ancestral property, the Pataudi Palace, is spread across 10 acres and is located around 30 kilometres from Gurugram. Built in 1935, the grand residence was commissioned by the last ruling Nawab of Pataudi, Iftikhar Ali Khan, for his wife. According to reports, the property was leased to the Neemrana Hotels group in 2005. Saif later reclaimed ownership of the palace for a reported Rs 800 crore following the death of his father, Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.According to Architectural Digest, the sprawling property has nearly 150 rooms, including seven bedrooms, seven dressing rooms, seven billiard rooms, along with expansive dining and drawing rooms. The palace’s architecture was designed by Robert Tor Russell, who gave the property a distinctive European neoclassical influence through clean lines and geometric patterns. While the interiors retain elements of Indian heritage through traditional floral motifs, framed photographs of the Pataudi royal family lend a personal touch to the space. The palace’s long corridors reportedly feature striking black-and-white chequered marble flooring, while the walls are painted in understated shades of yellow, white, cream and pastel colours. Another highlight is its vintage library, which recently caught attention after Saif shared a glimpse of it in one of his Instagram posts. The dining area reportedly features crystal chandeliers, decorative lamps, elegant vases and warm lighting. Potted plants placed across different corners add a touch of greenery to the interiors. The bedrooms, meanwhile, combine wooden flooring, ornate heritage details, antique decor and handcrafted furniture.Among the palace’s most distinctive architectural features is a dome inspired by the Sanchi Stupa, supported by imposing columned pillars. High-ceilinged verandas, parquet flooring and pink Venetian chandeliers further add to the regal character of the property, making Pataudi Palace a striking blend of Indian heritage and European architectural influences.
