Hyderabad: Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday met Telugu film personalities Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan during his visit to Hyderabad, triggering political speculation given Chiranjeevi’s younger brother Pawan Kalyan’s position as Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister and Jana Sena chief, whose party is an NDA ally. However, BJP leaders said the interaction was part of Shah’s customary outreach to prominent personalities during his visits and should not be viewed from a political perspective. Chiranjeevi also shared details of the meeting with Shah on social media.Earlier, Shah visited Bhagyalakshmi temple at Charminar and offered special prayers. He was accompanied by Union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, BJP state president N Ramchander Rao and other party leaders. After the temple visit, Shah posted messages in Telugu on social media, referring to his prayers and seeking the blessings of goddess Bhagyalakshmi. He also made several posts explaining BJP’s Maha Padayatra and targeting Congress over its allegations concerning electoral rolls and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.Shah later participated in Maha Padayatra, which began near the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue at Nizam College in Basheerbagh and concluded at Mozamjahi Market. Organised under the slogan ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ (save democracy, remove anarchy), the march was aimed at countering Congress’s campaign against the SIR exercise.
