Kolkata: A day after the INDIA bloc’s protest at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, which also demanded chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, BJP president Nitin Nabin led a rally in Kolkata on Monday, flanked by CM Suvendu Adhikari and Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya. He said his party would not tolerate “ghuspetiyas” (intruders) on the rolls.Nabin attacked Congress, Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi, and former CM Mamata Banerjee, accusing INDIA bloc parties of winning elections with votes from “intruders”. “If Congress had learnt from its past mistakes, it would not be in the sorry state it is in,” he said, adding that people had in the past taught “lessons to your (Gandhi’s) ancestors”.He said BJP had defeated AAP in Delhi, RJD in Bihar and Trinamool in Bengal, and was on its way to routing the Samajwadi Party in UP. He accused Gandhi of using a “toolkit” that had been used to topple govts in Bangladesh and Nepal.Bhattacharya said Bengal’s SIR remained incomplete because of Mamata’s opposition. “At the time, BJP workers were attacked, a block development office set ablaze, Agnimitra Paul’s car attacked, an ASHA worker shot. There should be another SIR in Bengal. If that is done, 30 lakh more names would be deleted,” he said.Adhikari said: “Cockroaches, Dimagi Naxals, Maoists, Jihadis and Jamatis — forces linked to infiltration and disorder — must be removed from the country. In the upcoming Kolkata and Howrah civic body elections, BJP will wipe them out and give them a proper reply.”He said those who had engaged in corruption, extortion and dynasty politics were spreading canards against BJP, and asked party workers to stay alert ahead of the civic polls. The ‘Save democracy, remove anarchy’ rally ran from College Street to Esplanade, a little over two kilometres. The CM said more than 25,000 people turned up. Roads en route were shut and barricaded. A woman was seen pleading with police to let her cross to Medical College Hospital, where a relative was admitted.K
