Ranchi: The extended claims and objections period under Jharkhand’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will close on Saturday, with 15,04,237 applications digitised so far and a sizeable verification backlog still awaiting disposal.According to the latest SIR bulletin issued on Friday, the digitised applications, updated up to Oct 28, comprise 8,99,084 Form 6 applications for fresh enrolment, 45,679 Form 7 objections seeking deletion of names, 5,59,351 Form 8 applications for correction or transfer, and 123 applications under Form 6A. On Oct 29 alone, 10,585 applications were digitised, including 3,521 Form 7 objections.Chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar shared the latest notice-disposal figures on Monday. The figures show that, out of 2.21 crore cases across the No Mapping, Logical Discrepancy and Other categories, 1.63 crore had been disposed of and updated on ECINET. Another 58.13 lakh cases remained pending across the three categories. The largest unresolved load is in the Logical Discrepancy category, where 25.13 lakh of 45.49 lakh cases are yet to be disposed of. No Mapping has 10.14 lakh pending cases out of 14.04 lakh, while the Other category accounts for 22.84 lakh pending cases out of 1.61 crore. The next milestone is the Nov 30 deadline for publication of the final roll. Under the revised schedule, claims and objections must be disposed of by Nov 23, leaving one week for final checks and publication formalities. The draft roll published on Aug 5 had excluded 43.61 lakh names under the absent, shifted, dead and duplicate categories, reducing the electorate from around 2.64 crore to 2.21 crore. The final roll will determine how many eligible citizens are newly enrolled and how many proposed deletions are upheld.Although the Oct 26 review indicates substantial progress in overall disposal, the size of the unresolved verification categories and the absence of a fresh hearing-wise breakdown have kept pressure on district teams racing to complete checks before the final-roll deadline. CEO K Ravi Kumar, however, was optimistic. “All the pending work is expected to be over by mid November,” he said, adding that “final electoral roll will be published on the scheduled date of Nov 30”.
