Gurgaon: Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh on Friday targeted Congress over what he called its internal divisions and organisational disarray, while taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi for failing to put his team and party structure in place.Inderjit was speaking on the sidelines of a district-level programme at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Shikohpur, organised to mark the release of the 24th instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme.“Congress’s internal divisions and organisational disarray are there for everyone to see. Its leaders are caught up in internal tussles,” Inderjit said.Drawing a contrast, he said BJP had a strong and well-structured organisation, with workers, office-bearers and leaders functioning in coordination. He expressed confidence in the party leadership and elected representatives, and urged workers to strengthen the organisation while remaining active in public service.Alongside his political remarks, Inderjit appealed to farmers to reduce dependence on water-intensive crops and adopt diversification to conserve groundwater. As groundwater levels continue to decline, he urged farmers to shift from paddy to alternatives such as maize, bajra, pulses and oilseeds. Crop diversification, he said, would help save water, preserve soil fertility and create additional income opportunities. He also said protecting water resources for future generations was a collective responsibility, and farmers had a key role to play in making agriculture sustainable.Addressing the gathering, Inderjit said agriculture remained central to India’s economy, food security and rural development. He cited PM-Kisan, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Card scheme and minimum support price mechanisms as measures aimed at strengthening farmers financially and making cultivation more viable. He also called for wider adoption of technology-driven and sustainable farming practices, including micro-irrigation, natural farming and efforts to increase domestic production of pulses and edible oils.
