Noida: Five operation theatres (OTs) built at a cost of over Rs 4.5 crore across four community health centres (CHCs) in Noida are set to become operational next month, easing referrals to the district hospital. The facilities at Bisrakh, Dadri, Jewar and Bhangel will enable surgeries including gynaecological procedures, caesarean sections, gall bladder and hernia operations.Officials said the OTs are equipped with modern surgical equipment, improved lighting and digital monitoring systems. The facilities are expected to allow doctors to perform a range of procedures, including gynaecological surgeries, caesarean sections, gall bladder and hernia operations.Construction work took around 10 months and the facilities have been developed to strengthen surgical services at the community-level healthcare centres and reduce the burden on the district hospital, where patients requiring specialised procedures are often referred, officials said.“With the new OTs, doctors will be able to perform several procedures at the CHCs themselves, improving access to surgical care at the local level,” chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Madan Mohan Mani Tripathi said.Health officials said more than 300 patients visit the health centre every day, with a substantial proportion being women. Currently, patients requiring surgical intervention are often referred to the district hospital, causing delays and adding to the burden on higher-level facilities.Two OTs have been set up at Bhangel CHC, including one in its mother and child wing, catering to the facility’s significant number of women patients.“The facilities feature modern surgical machines, insulation, and digital monitoring screens to help medical teams monitor patients during procedures,” the CMO said.The upgraded infrastructure would enable the centres to handle a wider range of cases, subject to the availability of trained staff and other required resources, officials added.
