Shivamogga: Karnataka govt is prepared to conduct elections to local bodies, including gram panchayats, taluk panchayats, zilla panchayats and city corporations, primary and secondary education minister Madhu Bangarappa said on Monday.Responding to questions from reporters about the poll schedule, the minister said the administration was keen to proceed, but legal hurdles and pending litigation had frequently delayed the process. He said the timeline had been discussed with chief minister DK Shivakumar and the state cabinet, and an official decision on the sequence of elections would be announced soon.Bangarappa said timely elections were crucial for proper administration and development at the local level. Recurring legal interventions and procedural updates, including surveys, had delayed the polls, but he hoped the obstacles would be cleared promptly. He said Congress was committed to democratic integrity and safeguarding the fundamental right to vote. The party would take necessary steps to verify voter lists and monitor booth-level corrections to prevent unfair omissions, he added.
