Final notices sent to three more bars as Besa bulldozer revs

Nagpur: Besa-Pipla Nagar Panchayat has issued final notices to three more bars allegedly operating from unauthorised structures, warning of demolition if their owners fail to produce valid documents. The civic body has so far issued notices to 25 establishments, seeking ownership and lease documents to establish the legality of their premises.“We are issuing notices at intervals of three weeks. If the third notice also goes unanswered, demolition action will be taken. The owners must produce legal documents to support their claims and avoid action,” Besa-Pipla Nagar Panchayat chief executive officer Bharat Nandanwar told TOI.The latest notices follow the demolition of the ground floor of a bar-cum-restaurant in Revatinagar on Friday. Sources said the establishment’s owner, Digvijay Jaiswal, had been served four notices but failed to respond.Nandanwar said around 20 to 25 beer bars and restaurants in the area were operating from unauthorised buildings. The Nagar Panchayat is also coordinating with the state excise department to scrutinise the licences of establishments under investigation.Details are being shared with the department, which will be asked to verify their bar and liquor licences and consider appropriate action, including revocation wherever warranted. The drive also seeks to address parking violations by bars and restaurants without adequate parking facilities. Officials said customers often park along roads, contributing to traffic congestion in the rapidly developing Besa-Pipla area.
