Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar accused Congress of hypocrisy over its apology for a post that allegedly insulted the Chief Justice of India. “If Congress genuinely repented, it would not have circulated deepfake videos purportedly of the army chief or amplified claims made by pro-Pakistan propaganda accounts soon afterwards,” he said.Chandrasekhar alleged that the incident was part of a planned attempt to discredit constitutional institutions. The withdrawal of the post and apology came after strong public criticism and the prospect of legal action, he alleged. He further alleged that Congress functioned in the interest of a single family and treated institutions that did not bow to ‘dynastic rule’ as adversaries. The judiciary, EC, media and armed forces were targeted in a similar way. Defaming constitutional institutions is Rahul Gandhi’s political strategy, he alleged, while accusing Rahul of attempting to erode public trust in democratic institutions and create unrest. He said the people had recognised ‘Rahul Gandhi’s lies and deceitful politics’ and added that Congress would not succeed in weakening democracy through ‘misinformation’ campaigns.
