Bengaluru: A casual outing with a new social media acquaintance turned into an expensive affair for a 27-year-old private firm employee after the man stole her 12-gram gold chain and pendant while she was asleep.Sarita (name changed), staying in a paying guest accommodation near Hope Farm, Whitefield, told police she got to know the man, identified as Karthik, on Snapchat around 20 days ago. After exchanging messages for a few days, the two decided to meet.They checked into a hotel in Marathahalli around 10:15pm on Oct 24. They partied for some time, and before going to sleep, Sarita kept her gold chain and pendant on a table in the room.When she woke up at 7:20am the next day, Karthik was missing, along with the jewellery. Shocked, Sarita tried to reach him on the phone but could not connect. She filed a complaint with HAL police the same day seeking his identification and recovery of her jewellery.
