A dispute over a Rs 100 note escalated when a passenger pushed a conductor off a moving bus

HYDERABAD: A dispute over change for a Rs 100 note turned violent when a woman passenger allegedly pushed a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) conductor off a moving bus, leaving her with severe injuries to both legs in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Sunday. The incident occurred near Mittagudem in Aswapuram mandal when a Palle Velugu bus operated by the Manuguru depot was travelling from Manuguru to Bhadrachalam. The injured conductor, Pravalika, was taken to Bhadrachalam area hospital in a 108 ambulance before being shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.According to Aswapuram inspector Yellayya, the passenger, identified as Mounika, boarded the bus with her son and asked for a half ticket for him. She handed Pravalika a Rs 100 note to pay for the ticket. A dispute broke out over the change, with the argument continuing even after Mounika agreed to buy the ticket. The disagreement continued when Pravalika told Mounika to collect the balance while getting off the bus. The passenger insisted that the change be returned immediately, leading to another argument. As the bus approached the Mittagudem stop, Mounika attempted to get off. However, Pravalika, who intended to take her to Aswapuram police station to lodge a complaint over the altercation, stopped her from getting down and asked the driver to move the bus ahead.During the ensuing altercation, Mounika allegedly pushed the conductor through the bus doorway while the vehicle was moving. Pravalika fell onto the road, and the bus’s rear wheels ran over her right leg, severely crushing it. She also sustained serious injuries to her left leg.Local residents and fellow passengers rushed to her aid and arranged for an ambulance to take her to Bhadrachalam area hospital. She was later shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.Police took Mounika into custody in connection with the incident. A case was registered based on a complaint lodged by the Manuguru depot manager, and an investigation is under way, inspector Yellayya said.
