Thiruvananthapuram: Govt plans to form a ‘Global Norka Coordination Council’ after dissolving Loka Kerala Sabha to establish stronger and more effective ties with expatriate Keralites and Malayali organisations across the world, chief minister V D Satheesan informed the assembly on Monday.Govt dissolved Loka Kerala Sabha through an official order after concluding that the initiative hadn’t achieved its intended objectives and a more effective, continuous and structured platform was needed to engage with expatriates on a regular basis, he said.Satheesan said a committee headed by the chief minister had been constituted to ensure continuous and structured engagement with the global Keralite diaspora and recommend an appropriate institutional mechanism for it.Although Loka Kerala Sabha has been dissolved, govt intends to strengthen its engagement with expatriate Keralites through a more sustainable and effective system, he added.
