Itanagar: Anti-dam activists Ebo Mili and Otul Jerang, who surrendered to police after violence during a bandh against the proposed SUMP, have reportedly begun a hunger strike in jail, claiming they were falsely implicated in the case. However, East Siang SP Pankaj Lamba denied that the duo were on a hunger strike. He said they had breakfast on Monday. “After breakfast, they have not eaten anything, but this cannot be called a hunger strike. It is normal to go without food for six to seven hours,” Lamba said.Mili and Jerang surrendered to police on Oct 23, following violence in Pasighat during a 12-hour bandh called by organisations opposing the proposed hydropower project.
