Shimla: DGP Ashok Tewari on Monday urged Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) officers and employees to become ambassadors of Himachal Pradesh’s ‘Anti-Chitta Jan Andolan’, stressing that tackling drug abuse requires public participation.Addressing a gathering at SJVN headquarters during Vigilance Awareness Week-2026, Tewari conveyed chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s message that police action alone could not eliminate drug abuse. Families, educational institutions, workplaces, and communities must work together to tackle the menace, he said.Launched at Shimla’s Ridge on Nov 15, 2025, the campaign aims to turn the fight against drugs into a sustained public movement. Tewari urged employees to spread awareness among youth, support people battling addiction, and share information about drug trafficking with police. He also highlighted Himachal Police’s performance under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112), saying the state had improved its national ranking from 34th in Nov 2025 to first position.Emphasising the theme of Vigilance Awareness Week, ‘Probity for Prosperity’, Tewari stressed the need for transparency, preventive vigilance and ethical leadership.
