Fadnavis Orders Forensic Probe Into Audio Clip Released By Jarange

Nagpur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the audio clip released by Maratha quota spearhead, Manoj Jarange, would undergo a forensic investigation and the truth would be brought out.The audio clip is of a conversation that alleges BJP paid Rs 500 crore to Jarange through Deputy CM Eknath Shinde’s son, Shrikant Shinde, a Lok Sabha MP, to silence the activist and weaken the Maratha reservation agitation, which started over three years ago.Speaking after voting in the Nagpur division graduates’ constituency election, Fadnavis said a Shiv Sena delegation met him on the issue. “Now, whatever conversation has come out, will be investigated fully and forensically. I have given the same assurance to the Sena delegation,” said the CM.Fadnavis, however, questioned the timing of the audio clip’s release. “All of us are asking why this audio conversation is coming out after two-and-half years. What’s the motive and who is being targeted and why? There are many such questions,” he said.Responding to NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule’s allegations of misconduct by BJP in MLC polls, Fadnavis said the former must provide more information. Sule had alleged BJP was using pens equipped with spy cams for distributing money.Fadnavis sarcastically said “What exactly is a spy pen and how does it work? If Sule sends it to me, I will understand more about the pen and find out what is going on.”
