Chitradurga: The 10-day Sharana Samskruthi Utsav, described as Karnataka’s Dasara of ideological thought, concluded here on Thursday with Shunya Peetharohana, a procession of ancient Vachana manuscripts and the traditional Jayadeva Jangikusti wrestling event. Organised by SJM Vidyapeetha since Oct 13, the annual festival brought together spirituality, health, education, Vachana literature and agriculture through various programmes. It was held under the leadership of governing body chairperson Shivayogi C Kalasad and member Basava Kumara Swami. The festival featured spiritual discourses, cultural events, knowledge-sharing sessions and annadasoha, or community meals. As part of Shunya Peetharohana at Rajangana, a golden crown, footwear and rudraksha necklace were placed on the ceremonial seat and worshipped. An idol of Muruga Shantaveera Swami was subsequently placed on the seat. The celebrations sought to preserve the sharanas’ legacy while promoting social equality, spiritual inquiry and progressive thought.
