Amravati: Seizure of Rs 1.15 lakh in cash, campaign material and voter lists from a hotel in Anjangaon Surji has triggered a political storm ahead of the Amravati Division Teachers’ Constituency election. Three persons were detained and handed over to the Election Flying Squad Team for further inquiry.As per information, the police action on Oct 17 found that the campaign material belonged to an independent candidate. The sub-divisional officer (SDM) and tehsildar have been informed about the seizure, and the detained persons were identified as Vishnu Paigan (resident of Dhamangaon, Buldhana), Yogesh Khadke (resident of Walsawangi, Jalna) and Suresh Falke (resident of Warud, Buldhana).“Whether the cash was meant for inducement of voters and whether it amounts to a violation of the Model Code of Conduct will be clear only after the FST inquiry,” said police inspector Suraj Bonde.
