Jaipur: Seven swimmers from Rajasthan will represent the state in the first Short Course Senior National Aquatic Championships. The competition will be held from October 25 to 28 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad.The Rajasthan Swimming Association president Anil Vyas stated that four men and three women swimmers from Rajasthan will compete in various events at the four-day tourney. He added that this championship, organised as part of the World Aquatics Development Programme, is also considered important in the context of the Short Course World Championships scheduled to be held in Beijing in the first week of December 2026. It is considered a qualifying event.World Aquatics’ A and B qualifying time standards have been released for the competition. Therefore, the swimmers’ performance in Ahmedabad will be crucial for their chances of advancing to the international level.Four male and three female swimmers includedAccording to Anil Vyas, Naveen Bhadu, Himanshu Siyag, Abhiraj Singh, and Gurveet Kaswan will participate in the men’s category, while Krishna Siyag, Avantika Ojha, and Komal Yadav will represent the state in the women’s category.Naveen Bhadoo will compete in the 400, 800, and 1500 meters freestyle. Himanshu Siyag will participate in the 400 meters freestyle and 200 and 400 meters individual medley. Abhiraj Singh will compete in the 50 and 100 meters backstroke, as well as the 50 meters freestyle and 50 meters butterfly. Gurveet Kaswan will provide his challenge in the 50 meters backstroke.In the women’s category, Krishna Siyag will compete in the 100m individual medley and 50m freestyle.
