LUCKNOW: In a major breakthrough in the death case of restaurant owner Shiva Sharma, joint teams of the Lucknow Police, Nagpur Police and the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) have arrested social media influencer and model Shraddha Dubey, her sister Rashmi Dubey and their driver, Tanveer Ali alias Danish. The three accused, who had been absconding, were reportedly carrying a combined reward of Rs 50,000.Lucknow Police Commissioner Tarun Gauba said the three were being brought to Lucknow on transit remand and would be produced in court. The arrests followed an extensive search spanning multiple locations. Investigators tracked the accused after they reportedly fled to Nepal, subsequently returned to Uttar Pradesh and eventually travelled to Nagpur in Maharashtra.Sharma, 28, died on October 9 after falling from the fourth floor of Awadh Green Apartments near Balu Adda in Lucknow’s Hazratganj area. His death triggered a police investigation after his mother, Ranjana Sharma, accused Shraddha and others of being involved in his death. An FIR was registered on October 10 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder.

From Uttar Pradesh to Nepal

During the investigation, the police found that the three accused had fled to Nepal after the incident. Shraddha’s SUV was found parked in the Rupaidiha area of Bahraich, close to the India-Nepal border, strengthening suspicions that the accused had crossed into the neighbouring country.Investigators subsequently received leads about their presence at various locations in Nepal. Their movements were reportedly traced through areas including Banke and Surkhet, while later information placed them in Bhaluwang in Dang district. The police also coordinated with their Nepalese counterparts to establish their whereabouts.

Re-entry into Uttar Pradesh and onward journey to Maharashtra

The investigation took another turn when the trio reportedly re-entered Uttar Pradesh from Nepal through the Maharajganj border region. However, they managed to evade the police and subsequently travelled to Maharashtra, with Nagpur emerging as a key location in the search. The movement across state and international borders complicated the operation, prompting coordination among the Lucknow Police, the UP STF and police personnel in Maharashtra. Acting jointly, the teams eventually apprehended the three accused in Nagpur.

Reward announced as search intensified

Before their arrest, the Lucknow Police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each for Shraddha, Rashmi and Danish, taking the combined reward to Rs 75,000 based on those earlier individual announcements. However, the latest information about the arrests puts the total reward associated with the three accused at Rs 50,000. The discrepancy requires official clarification. The police had also pursued legal measures to secure the accused’s presence in the case as the search continued.

Investigation into Sharma’s death

Sharma’s death drew intense public attention after videos purportedly showing confrontations between him and Shraddha surfaced. Shraddha had earlier denied involvement in his death in social media posts and claimed that Sharma died by suicide amid financial difficulties.
