Haveri: Independent candidate Kantakumar R on Friday urged graduates in the West Graduates’ constituency to support candidates committed to fighting unemployment, corruption and irregularities in recruitment.Addressing a news conference here, he said sustained agitations by job seekers in Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, Kalaburagi and other districts had forced govt to act on long-pending vacancies. Posts left unfilled for six to seven years are now being taken up, with steps initiated to recruit for 70,000 to 75,000 positions, he said.Kantakumar said around 3.8 lakh posts remain vacant across state departments, corporations and boards. He demanded that govt fill one lakh posts annually for the next two years.Accusing political parties of failing to wage genuine struggles over public issues, he said honest officers must be allowed to work freely so talented poor candidates receive fair opportunities.Kantakumar also demanded improved libraries with digital services, auditoriums, toilets, drinking water and round-the-clock access.
