Lucknow: Five days after a 24-year-old woman died after falling from the 10th floor of a hotel in Lucknow, her boyfriend, who had been absconding since the incident, surrendered before the court on Thursday.Police said the accused appeared before the ACJM court with his lawyer and was subsequently taken into custody.Additional DCP (South) Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar said police would seek the remand of the accused for further questioning to reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the death of the woman which triggered allegations of murder from her family.According to police, she checked into the hotel around noon on Oct 12 and died after falling off the 10th floor the same day around 6pm.Investigators said the woman’s boyfriend fled the hotel shortly after the fall. Police conducted raids in Sultanpur, Ayodhya and Unnao over the next five days but he remained untraceable.The victim’s mother alleged that the accused had been pressuring her daughter to marry him and pushed her from the building when she refused.Police are probing the allegations and examining whether the death was accidental, suicidal or homicidal. Investigators are analysing evidence from the hotel, witness statements and the sequence of events leading to the fall.The post-mortem report said that the woman died due to shock and haemorrhage caused by multiple traumatic injuries. She suffered severe head injuries along with fractures to her waist and legs.Police said that the woman left her home on Oct 12 morning after informing family members that she was going to shop for her sister. She later reached the hotel with her friend. Investigators are also examining her phone records and movements in the hours preceding the incident.
