Three city-based doctors win outstanding researcher award

Vadodara: Three doctors from the city given the International Outstanding Researcher Award at the ISSN International Science and Technology Award Congress 2026 (IISTAC 2026). The recognition was conferred on Dr Kamaldeep Chawla, Dr Saumitra Akash Singh and Dr Anil Pania for their published clinical work titled ‘Case Report of a Massive Pulmonary Thromboembolism with Massive DVT and Contraindication to Thrombolysis.’The award ceremony was held recently in Tamil Nadu as part of the Scientific Network Awards 2026 programme. The case report focuses on a challenging clinical situation involving massive pulmonary thromboembolism associated with extensive deep vein thrombosis in a patient in whom conventional thrombolytic treatment was contraindicated.Such cases require proper clinical assessment and therapeutic decision-making because of the potentially life-threatening nature of pulmonary embolism and limitations on standard treatment options. ‘Clinical practice regularly presents situations where textbook treatment pathways may not be straightforward. Careful documentation and publication of such cases can contribute meaningfully to medical learning. We are grateful that this work has received recognition,’ the doctors said.
