KANPUR: A 75-year-old man and a 30-year-old social media influencer have announced their engagement in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, despite their 45-year age gap.The couple is now preparing for their wedding, their families have confirmed.Ramsughar, a resident of Ariyari village in Sahar, and Reena Rajput, who lives in Dayalpur under the Sadar Kotwali police station limits, reportedly exchanged rings at a beauty parlour in Auraiya about a week ago.Reena said the wedding would be scheduled after the Navratri festivities.A video of their engagement, shared on Instagram, has sparked mixed reactions on social media.While some users have described their relationship as an example of love beyond age, others have questioned whether it is a publicity stunt to gain views and boost their online popularity. However, these claims remain unverified.Ramsughar said Reena had been visiting his home for around two years and that their relationship had gradually grown stronger.His daughter, Radha, a YouTube content creator, said her mother had died about seven years ago. According to Radha, Reena regularly visited their home, where they also worked together on video content. Over time, Reena and Ramsughar developed affection for each other, she said.Reena said she was comfortable with the 45-year age difference and was happy with their decision to marry. She maintained that age did not matter in love and said both of them were ready to begin a new chapter together.The families are planning a traditional wedding, although the date has not yet been finalised.
