Ranchi: Ranchi-New Delhi Garib Rath Express was cancelled citing possible traffic congestion in New Delhi due to the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) scheduled Jantar Mantar protest on Saturday.In a statement, Ranchi railway division of South Eastern Railway (SER) said, “In view of the possibility of road traffic congestion around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on Oct 10, 12877 Ranchi–New Delhi Garib Rath Express, scheduled to depart on Friday, was cancelled.” The train was scheduled to depart from Ranchi station at 4:25 pm on Friday and arrive at New Delhi station at 11:10 am on Saturday.CJP is seeking the ouster of CEC Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.A CJP supporter from Ranchi said the cancellation of the train prevented him from taking part in the protest. “Thousands of passengers have been affected by this decision. Many of them cannot afford costly airline tickets. The cancellation has derailed their plans,” the supporter told TOI, requesting anonymity.
