NOIDA: A black Thar SUV, a seven-storey parking rooftop and a dangerous stunt allegedly performed for social media content landed two 23-year-old men in police custody in Noida on Friday, after a video showing the vehicle being driven around the rooftop went viral. The accused, identified as Abhishek Tripathi, a resident of Ghazipur Village in Delhi, and Jatin Kumar, a resident of West Vinod Nagar in Mandawali, Delhi, were arrested by Noida Police. The SUV was seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further legal proceedings against the two men are underway. The incident has sparked concern over the risks people may take to create attention-grabbing social media content. The 57-second video shows the black SUV moving back and forth on the rooftop of a multi-level parking facility in Sector 18, Noida. At one point, a young man can be seen climbing onto the vehicle while it is still moving, raising fears of a potentially serious accident. The video was shared on social media by a person who claimed he had been watching the vehicle from his office cabin. According to him, he noticed the Thar moving in circles on the rooftop and continued to observe it for around two to three hours.Suspecting that the driver was performing the manoeuvres to create a social media reel, the man recorded his concerns about the growing tendency to engage in dangerous stunts for online attention. However, the exact circumstances in which the video was recorded have not been established. In the video, the man is heard criticising what he describes as an alarming obsession with making reels. Taking a dig at the driver, he questions whether the SUV had been purchased specifically to create such videos. He also urges people not to risk their lives for social media engagement, warning that even a minor mistake could lead to a major accident. Expressing concern that the vehicle could fall from the rooftop, he cautions that such an incident could have serious consequences. The man ends his commentary by asking viewers to tag him if a reel featuring the incident is created. While the video has drawn attention to the dangers of rooftop driving stunts, several details remain unclear, including when the footage was recorded and how the SUV reached the top floor of the parking facility.
