Dhanbad: Dumri legislator Jairam Mahto was among the meritorious students of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) who received their degrees at the varsity’s third convocation ceremony here on Friday.Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar handed degrees and gold medals to nearly 150 toppers from different disciplines and programmes. They included postgraduate students of the 2022-24 and 2023-25 batches, undergraduate students of the 2021-24 session, and vocational undergraduate students of the 2022-25 batch.Degrees and gold medals were also presented to top performers in BSc Nursing, BEd, MEd, MBBS, LLB and BA LLB. Around 40 scholars who completed doctoral research were recognised.Jairam Mahto completed his doctoral research in the university’s English department while continuing his political and public work. Expressing happiness, Mahto said he had worked tirelessly for the academic milestone. “There is no substitute for hard work,” he said.Gangwar congratulated the graduates and urged them to use their knowledge and abilities for nation-building and public welfare. “Education plays a key role in shaping responsible citizens and advancing society,” he said.
