Gujarat to introduce online ACR system for over 2 lakh primary education employees

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat govt has decided to digitise the process of writing and reviewing annual confidential reports (ACRs) of more than 2 lakh employees working in govt primary schools across the state. For the first time, the entire process will be conducted online through the teacher portal, covering vidya sahayaks, primary teachers, head teachers and cluster resource centre (CRC) and block resource centre (BRC) coordinators working on deputation.Until now, ACRs were prepared and maintained through an offline system, creating difficulties in record management and causing unnecessary delays in resolving service-related matters, including inter-district transfers and higher pay-scale benefits. The new digital system aims to streamline record maintenance, improve administrative efficiency and ensure timely completion of the appraisal process. The education department has announced a fixed schedule to implement the online system. ACRs will be generated online by Oct 15. Employees will be required to verify and update their basic details on the portal between Oct 16 and 31.Following the verification process, the concerned reporting officers will conduct online assessments from Nov 1 to 30. The reviewing officers will subsequently complete the online review process between Dec 1 and 30.The department has emphasised that ACRs are important and confidential documents for both employees and govt. Officers have been instructed to assess employees responsibly, allocate adequate time to the exercise and avoid routine or perfunctory remarks while preparing the reports. The department has also made it clear that once an online form is submitted or the prescribed deadline expires, no further changes or withdrawal of the form will be permitted. This provision is intended to ensure accountability and prevent unnecessary delays in the appraisal process.Under the new rules, if an officer fails to complete the writing or reviewing of an ACR within the stipulated period, the system will automatically move the report to the next stage. The responsibility for such delays will rest entirely with the concerned officer or employee, and action may be initiated against those responsible. The move is expected to make the ACR process more transparent, efficient and time-bound for Gujarat’s primary education workforce.
