New Delhi: Delhi Police has questioned Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam in connection with the JNU sexual harassment case.“He was questioned by the police for two hours and was asked to furnish details related to it,” a police source said.JNU dismissed Akoijam after its internal committee examined allegations made by several students against the MP, who was a professor at the university.The committee said the incidents indicated a pattern of inappropriate personal interactions, sexually suggestive conduct and unwelcome physical contact. The committee said his conduct created an intimidating, offensive and hostile environment for women students.An FIR was registered on Oct 11 under BNS sections that deal with sexual harassment and words, gestures or acts intended to insult a woman’s modesty, following a complaint by JNU’s chief security officer.Police said JNU forwarded the details to Vasant Kunj North station house officer. The police documents mentioned May 6 as the date of an incident, as well as an unspecified period before that date.Dismissing the allegations, Akoijam posted on X on Oct 11 that JNU had “lied” that he did not produce any witness. He said the allegations against him were “politically motivated”.
