LUCKNOW: “It’s not like you have lost a son, I have lost my boyfriend,” said model and social media influencer Shraddha Dubey, the prime accused in the death of her live-in partner, 28-year-old restaurant owner Shiva Sharma, in a video released on Thursday.In a video, Dubey appealed to the media not to spread rumours about the incident, alleging that Sharma’s mother had accused her and others of murder without knowing the full circumstances. She also claimed that Sharma’s mother had quarrelled with her driver at the hospital.“Think why would someone kill someone and throw them from their own apartment,” she said, questioning the allegations against her.Dubey alleged that Sharma had been receiving calls from people he had borrowed money from and had repeatedly told her that he would die by suicide if he could not repay the loans.Recounting how they met, Dubey said she called Sharma twice, but he did not answer. He later called her at around 2am and asked to meet her. They went to Peddler’s Cafe, where he ordered coffee for her and juice for himself. She added that he had consumed “a lot of beers” before meeting her.“Later, both of us went to my place. While he drove my car, my driver took his car,” she said.Dubey said her sister, Rashmi, visited her home on October 8 to discuss a Navratri puja. She denied her sister’s involvement in the case, claiming that Rashmi barely knew Sharma. She said she and Rashmi went for a walk that evening, later joined by Sharma’s friends Ashwini Mishra and Harsh, before the group went on a long drive. Dubey also said she had spoken to Sharma’s mother, sister and brother-in-law that day.Recalling the events of October 9, when Sharma died, Dubey claimed that he appeared depressed. She said they woke up and made tea before he went to the washroom.“I don’t even know what it was. We woke up and made tea. Shiva went to the washroom. Usually, he would never close the main gate. But this time, he did. I asked my sister to check on him after a while. As soon as she opened the gate, he jumped from the balcony,” she said.Dubey also alleged that Sharma’s mother accused them of murder and assaulted her driver at the hospital.“It will be recorded on the hospital’s camera. Without knowing anything, she accused us of murder. Without thinking, she blamed us for murder. She blamed us so badly that we might not be able to get out of that blame for life,” she said.In an earlier video, Dubey denied any wrongdoing and claimed that Sharma had died by suicide. She also urged the media to stop linking her to politicians and senior officials, saying she was willing to appear before the police and record her statement.“I am not missing. I want to come before the police and tell them everything I know. I want to place the complete truth before them,” she said.She added that following someone on Instagram did not mean she knew them or had a relationship with them.Sharma died on October 9 after falling from the fourth floor of Awadh Green Apartment in Lucknow’s Hazratganj area. According to police sources, he had been in a relationship with Dubey for around four months.Following his death, Sharma’s mother, Ranjana Sharma, lodged an FIR accusing Dubey, her sister Rashmi, driver Adil and others of murder. The family has alleged that Dubey pushed Sharma from the building, a claim investigators are examining.Lucknow Police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each for information leading to the arrest of Dubey, her sister Rashmi Dubey and Tanveer Ali, alias Danish, in connection with the case.
