Bathinda: Slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala returned to the stage through a 3D holographic performance in Toronto, Canada, on Friday night, as part of the launch of a world tour, ‘Signed to God’. His hit song 295, released in July 2021, was reintroduced in a new format during the show.The performance used holographic technology to recreate Moosewala on stage, complete with speech and audience interaction. The song has garnered 889 million views and 12 million likes on his YouTube channel, which has 31.5 million subscribers.Moosewala’s parents, Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur, and his younger brother, Shubhdeep, born in March 2024, attended the opening show. Addressing the gathering, Balkaur Singh said the family had been fighting for justice for his son’s killing for more than four years.“To get justice, we need power, for which I am again fighting,” he said. He added that while attempts had been made to silence the singer, his voice continued to resonate. Seventeen songs have been released since his death, with another due soon, he said.Young Shubhdeep drew loud applause at the packed venue when he performed his father’s signature thapi gesture.The family and the singer’s team had been preparing for the tour for a long time. Five more shows are planned in the first phase, with performances scheduled in Vancouver and Calgary in Canada, and New York, Houston and Oakland in the US by Nov 6.Moosewala was shot dead on May 29, 2022, at Jawaharke village near Mansa while travelling in his black Thar with two friends. Attackers in two vehicles intercepted the SUV and opened fire.
