Ashutosh Ranka labeled Gyanesh Kumar a traitor

NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Ashutosh Ranka on Sunday launched a fresh attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar following his release from preventive detention, calling him a “traitor” and declaring that he was willing to spend his life in jail to get people like him removed.In a post on X written in Hindi, Ranka said Gyanesh Kumar must resign and asserted that he would continue fighting against the CEC despite the possibility of prolonged imprisonment.“Gyanesh Kumar is a traitor. He will have to resign.“Even spending my entire life in jail is acceptable to get such traitors removed,” Ranka said.

Ashutosh Ranka’s post comes after release from detention

Ranka’s post came hours after an executive magistrate in New Delhi ordered the release of Ranka, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and party leader Saurav Das from detention.The three had been detained by Delhi Police after their flight from Mumbai landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday, ahead of the party’s proposed protest at Jantar Mantar

CJP demands Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over SIR

The CJP had planned to hold its ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ demonstration to demand Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.The party has also demanded that the revision exercise be scrapped.Delhi Police had denied permission for the proposed demonstration, citing law-and-order concerns, public safety and possible inconvenience to residents.The detention of the three CJP leaders came amid a wider security crackdown, during which more than 7,000 people were detained across the capital.Despite the detentions, the CJP has maintained that it will continue its campaign for free and fair elections.(With agency inputs)
