‘Gyanesh Kumar at heart of govt’s survival’: CJP’s Saurav Das after Delhi protest detentions
Cockroach Janta Party spokesperson Saurav Das condemned the police’s forceful intervention ahead of their scheduled protest

NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das on Sunday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the police crackdown ahead of the party’s proposed ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ protest, alleging that the security measures exposed the government’s fear of public dissent.Vowing to continue the campaign, Das said the party and its supporters would return “with full strength” and would not be intimidated into silence. In a post on X, Das alleged that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was central to the government’s political survival and accused the authorities of using force and intimidation against citizens exercising their democratic rights.“After Modi-Shah turned Delhi into a fortress and unleashed what can only be described as a war against their own citizens, one thing has become abundantly clear: Gyanesh Kumar is at the very heart of this government’s survival. The unprecedented use of force, intimidation and threats against citizens simply exercising their democratic rights has exposed the government completely.“But we the young generation will continue to demand accountability. We shall neither be intimidated nor silenced. We are not backing down. We are returning with full strength!” Das posted, adding the hashtag #GyanuItsDoneBro.

CJP leaders released after detention ahead of Jantar Mantar protest

The post comes a day after Delhi Police detained CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, Das and party leader Ashutosh Ranka after their flight from Mumbai landed in the national capital. The three were travelling to Delhi for the proposed protest demanding Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. An executive magistrate on Sunday ordered the release of Dipke, Das and Ranka from detention. Their detention had followed Delhi Police’s decision to deny permission for the demonstration, citing security and law-and-order concerns.
